Terms of service
Last updated: 15 July 2026
1. Who we are and what these terms cover
Dora Travels is a travel companion for Android, iOS and web, developed by Elio Meriggi (individual developer, Italy). These terms govern the use of the app, the web app (at /app) and the doratravels.app website. For any question: [email protected].
The service is free. We don't sell anything directly and there are no in-app payments: we support ourselves through affiliate links to travel partners (see section 11).
2. Acceptance
By using Dora Travels you accept these terms and our Privacy policy. If you don't agree, we simply ask you not to use the service.
3. Minimum age
To use Dora Travels you must be at least 14 years old (the digital consent age in Italy). If you are under 14 you may not create an account or use the social features.
4. Your account
You can use the app without an account (guest mode). If instead you choose to register:
- you are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for the activity carried out with your account;
- one account per person is allowed;
- we may suspend or close an account in case of abuse, fraud or breach of these terms (see section 12).
If you notice unauthorized access to your account, please write to us as soon as possible.
5. Your content
The content you create — trips, wishlists, notes, social profile — stays yours. To make it work (store it, sync it across your devices, show it to the people you invite to shared trips) you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence, valid only to provide the service. We don't use your content for anything else and we don't resell it.
You agree not to add content that is unlawful, offensive, defamatory or that infringes the rights of others. Shared trips created via an invite code are visible to all the participants you have invited: only share what you're comfortable showing them.
6. Permitted use
We ask you to use Dora Travels fairly. In particular, you may not:
- carry out scraping or bulk extraction of content;
- abuse our APIs or those of the services we integrate (automated requests, overload, circumventing limits);
- decompile or reverse engineer the app, except within the limits expressly permitted by law;
- use the service for unlawful activities or to harm other users.
7. Intellectual property
The app, the website, the Dora Travels name and trademark, the design and the code are ours or belong to their respective owners. Some content comes from third-party sources and remains subject to their licences:
- photographs mostly come from Wikimedia under Creative Commons licences: attribution is shown next to the images;
- travel data (country information, climate, etc.) comes from sources cited case by case.
8. Travel information — please read carefully
Dora Travels shows you travel information: visa requirements, safety notes, climate, indicative prices for flights and more. This information is provided for information purposes only and as a rough guide. It does not constitute travel, legal, medical or any other kind of advice.
Real conditions change constantly and may differ from what is shown. Always check the official sources before you travel or make decisions: in particular, for Italian citizens, the Viaggiare Sicuri portal run by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, along with the diplomatic missions of your destination country, the airlines and the relevant authorities.
To the extent permitted by law, we accept no liability for decisions taken on the basis of the information in the app or on the website. Verifying entry requirements, safety, prices and conditions remains your responsibility.
9. Partner links (affiliate)
The service contains affiliate links to travel partners (e.g. Booking, Aviasales/Travelpayouts, GetYourGuide, Amazon). If you book or purchase via one of these links, the transaction takes place on the partner's site and the contractual relationship is between you and the partner: their terms and conditions apply. We may receive a commission, at no extra cost to you. We are not responsible for the partners' products, prices or services.
10. Service availability
We strive to keep the service running with the greatest possible care (best effort), but we cannot guarantee that it will always be available, uninterrupted or error-free. We may modify, add or discontinue features over time, including for maintenance or technical reasons.
11. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, Dora Travels is provided "as is" and we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from the use or inability to use the service. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability where the law does not allow it: in particular for wilful misconduct or gross negligence and for the mandatory rights granted to consumers.
12. Closing your account
You can close your account whenever you want, directly from the app (Settings → Delete account): this erases the account and associated data, as described in the privacy policy. We may suspend or close an account in case of a breach of these terms, giving you reasonable notice where possible (except for serious abuse or legal obligations that require immediate action).
13. Changes to the terms
We may update these terms over time. Significant changes will be communicated in-app and on this website, with the date of the update. By continuing to use the service after an update, you accept the new version.
14. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by Italian law. If you are a consumer, the competent court remains that of the place where you reside or are domiciled, as provided by consumer protection rules.
15. Privacy
The processing of your personal data is described in our Privacy policy, which forms an integral part of these terms.
